Michael A. Szymanski, CPA, ASA Michael A. Szymanski, CPA, ASA has over 20 years of experience in the valuation of business enterprises, equity and debt interests, various intangible assets and associated liabilities with businesses, complex securities, and derivative securities. Types of engagements include allocation of purchase price, corporate planning, fairness and solvency opinions, restructuring and Bankruptcy negotiations, tax planning (including estate and gift tax purposes and the related discount analysis), and valuations for adherence to regulatory and financial reporting requirements. Mr. Szymanski’s valuations are performed for SEC registrants and private companies. He has worked on valuation assignment for Bankruptcy engagements including company side and creditor side Bankruptcy committees. He is also a Member of the ValueKnowledge LLC fairness opinion committee. Mr. Szymanski was previously with Ernst & Young LLP’s Transaction Advisory Group before joining ValueKnowledge LLC as a Managing Director. Prior to his time at Ernst & Young, Mr. Szymanski was part of group which started the business valuation group at American National Bank/First Chicago Corporation (d/b/a J.P. Morgan). He was also a financial analyst for non-traditional investments at Continental Illinois (d/b/a Bank of America) in the Personal Trust and Investment Services Group. Mr. Szymanski earned a B.S. in Finance from Northern Illinois University and is President of the Northern Illinois University’s Board of Advisors for the Department of Finance. Mr. Szymanski has continued his education by completing post graduate accounting courses at DePaul University and passing all parts of the Certified Public Accounting exam on his first attempt. He is a Senior Member of American Society of Appraiser (“ASA”), Business Valuation and belongs to the AICPA and the Illinois CPA society. |
